LOCAL TALENT HOME THEATER PROJECT Initial Plan - 2/27/05
From the diagram below, you can see the overall floor plan of converting my home office into a home theater. The design will probably change slightly as we move along, but all of the basic components are there. A built-in desk, a place to store DVDs, a candy rack, a mini-refrigerator and a riser for elevated seating in the back. ![]() Work includes:
- building a built-in desk - hanging the movie screen - building the built-in frame around the screen - building the media center to house the surround sound, etc. - building a raised platform for the back seating - placing the video projector - running the wiring and electric - laying the mosaic tile of the Local Talent logo at the exterior french door to keep dirt from being tracked into the carpet from the outside. ![]() We'll attach the screen to the wall and build a structure around it. The yellow boxes represent speaker locations, the bottom will be where the amplifier, dvd player, etc. will be located behind glass doors. ![]() At the exterior french sliding door we're going to place tile to keep the dirt from being tracked onto the carpet. I drew a grid on the ground and drew the Local Talent logo onto the cement. We'll break apart green and black tiles and place them to form the top half of the logo. ![]() A virtual before and after of the mosaic tile LTP logo. ![]() We'll build a built-in desk in this location for my computer and video editing equipment. Another look of the future Built-In Desk. ![]() The closet will be turned into a mini-concession stand/candy rack and DVD storage. The top half will be for DVD storage with shelves made of oak. The bottom will have an oak counter top, with polyurithane over it. The bottom right of the space will have a mini-candy stand made of oak, with angled shelves so you can see the candy and (hopefully) a glass door. The right side has a mini-fridge that will be covered over by the counter top. ![]() Back to Home Theater page. |
