LOCAL TALENT HOME THEATER PROJECT

The Project is now complete. You can see pics of the finished product below.

After three weeks of scheduling and rescheduling,
the carpet finally got installed in the movie room and our all of our bedrooms.

What better way to break in the home theater than by
watching NFL football on 106 inches of high definition projected goodness.

Our projector stand a.k.a. "The Mailbox." Designed by Bauer, the curves
were put in to accent the curves on the entertainment center.

The wires from the entertainment center run under the floor through conduit,
up through the riser and out to the stand. Forcing the wires through the
conduit was a struggle, but we finally got it all worked out, thank God!

The cables running into the back of the projector.

More pics of "The Mailbox" HDTV projector stand.

The riser with the projector stand in front. We still have to buy furniture.
For the time being we put our large recliner on it to test it out. Eventually, we'll have
two smaller recliners and table on the top riser and two movie seats or a love seat
to the right of the recliner on the lower level.
Oh, and I have to store all of my things in those boxes :)

The fully stocked candy stand. Colas fill the fridge and
DVDs fill the racks above... again, I still have to clean up the
top of the counter...

A closer pic of the concession stand and DVD storage.

A view from the recliner. To the right is the candy stand.
Past that is the built in desk and the left center is the entertainment center.

The built-in desk. Again, still organizing, but I have plenty
of room to have a computer, a small TV, printer and storage in the
cabinet to the right. Could use a new chair that matches the decor, however.

The view of the entertainment center from the recliner. Sweetness.

For info on its creation, you can read more below...

In a fit of complete and utter insanity, I decided to convert my home office into a home theater. The catalyst for this impulsive move was that the office housed an aging fireplace that needed a lot of work. Since we live in Florida and have not once used the fireplace in the seven years we've lived in the house, the idea of putting $5000 into replacing the chimney stack seemed like a waste of time.

So the idea hit me to convert the room into a home theater. Taken up with the excitement of the idea, I quickly packed away my office contents and stripped the room bare. It was shortly after that moment where I realized that it is much easier to destroy something than it is to build something. Another realization is that tearing something apart cost no money. Building something takes a lot of money.

These two issues combined have made the evolution from office space to theater space a much longer process than originally anticipated. So, with my wife's constant urging, we continue to move forward on the project.
